While on a book tour in Tuscany, English writer James (William Shimell) crosses paths with Elle (Juliette Binoche), a French antiques dealer. Drawn to one another, they decide to spend the day together, wandering to a nearby town, stopping for coffee, visiting a museum, and posing as a newly married couple in a well-known wedding spot. As their time together unfolds, their interaction begins to suggest that their connection may be far more complex than it first appears. Certified Copy premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, where Juliette Binoche received the Best Actress award for her performance. The film was widely praised by critics and is regarded as one of the standout works of the decade.
